The response of the public has been generous.
- After seeing our brightly coloured posters an elderly man came into
church, his first time, and gave £5 to the Appeal. He apologised it
wasn’t for more!
- A lady wrote from Milton Keynes Village. ‘I enclose a small cheque
in thanksgiving for the 28 years of St Peter’s being ‘our church’
up to 1977. Some of my friends are still in the congregation.. I wish
you well in this enormous task, I hope it will not take too long so
that I shall be able to come and join in the celebratory service for
work completed!’ One of her friends had sent her a cutting from the
Nottingham Evening Post featuring the appeal.
- A lady of 92 came into church and spoke with Jan Huckle. She used to
attend the Sunday School here as a little girl. She said it was a pity
there was not a Sunday School at the moment - Jan put her right!
- A man came into the office on 20th May. He occasionally comes to the
coffee room but had never been into church. On seeing the details of
the appeal, he went into church, had a look round, picked up a
leaflet, came into the office and wrote out a cheque for £100. He
said ‘If I have any more to spare I will let you have it’.
- Through Rex Howieson, the Nottingham Squash Club gave the proceeds
of a raffle, £100, to the appeal.
