Peter
"Who say you that I am?" He asked of them;
and Simon, son of John, replied:
"You are the Christ,
Son of the Living God!"
"And you, O Simon of the swaying reeds,
who bends whichever way the shifting breezes run,
I say you shall be Peter Rock,
My Church's anchor-stone,
My steadfast one."
When we, like Peter, kneel in humble truth
before His feet, He greets us there;
tells who we are;
gives us our real names.
So, should the world misjudge or strip us bare
or crow our weaknesses to wake the mocking night,
it breaks us not; for we have found
in Christ alone our Rock
and our delight.
