Member of St Peter’s congregation, Chipo Muparadzi (daughter of Emma) and Brett Stevens’ wedding took place on Saturday 22nd July, sandwiched in sunshine, between two outbursts of rain. Eileen McLean gave the address, at this wonderfully happy and colourful service.

During August, St Peter's Choir accompanied by the Rector and other friends spent eight days in Ireland.  They sang services in St Finbar's Cathedral, Cork on Sunday 13th August, and in Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin the following weekend.  On Tuesday 16th August in the evening they sang at the Eucharist for the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at St Bartholomew's, Dublin (where Michael Thompson, formerly Vicar of St Stephen's Sneinton is Rector) and on Thursday 18th they gave a lunchtime concert in St Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh. They also visited the Glencree centre for peace and reconciliation where they gave an impromptu recital (more on this next month).

Look out for more information on Coffee Break Concerts in St Peter’s on Saturdays in October, and a number of activities also taking place in October in our churches; but note that on Saturday 14 October at 11am, Morgan Wills, a member of the cast of the controversial production Jerry Springer: The Opera, will be performing a programme of songs by black American composers.

A special service was held in mid August marking the closure of the Nottingham branch of the Burma Star Association and the laying up of their standard in St Mary’s.
